Edith Msafiri, LAAC

Gambling and Substance Abuse Clinical Program Lead

I’m Edith Msafiri, a Licensed Associate Addiction Counselor (LAAC) specializing in addiction and cooccurring disorders. I earned my Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and have been working in the field since 2023.

My clinical experience includes supporting couples, young adults, veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals, and adults navigating substance use disorders such as alcohol use disorder, opioid
use disorder, and stimulant use disorder. In addition to substance related addictions, I also work with individuals experiencing behavioral addictions, including gambling disorder, internet and gaming addiction, and other obsessive compulsive–related conditions.

I specialize in cooccurring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, helping clients understand and manage the complex relationship between addiction and mental health.

I am passionate about helping individuals find hope and healing in their recovery journey. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma informed care.

I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment where clients feel safe to explore their
experiences and build meaningful, lasting change.

I view wellness as a holistic process that includes mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. In my practice, I emphasize selfcare, resilience, and personal growth, recognizing that recovery is not a one size fits all journeys. I work collaboratively with clients to develop strategies that align with their strengths, values, and goals.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy cooking and traveling. I have a deep appreciation for learning about different cultures, and exploring new cuisines and traditions allows me to connect with people on a deeper level and broaden my perspective on life.
